Arctic Tourist is an adventure center for arctic nature, local history and hospitality. Searafting Would you like to see, smell and feel the Barents sea aound you? In speeds of up to 40 knots you really get to feel the elements bearing down on you. The wind and the salty water wipping in your face, is telling you that this is exciting! It forces you to take it all in and makes every nerve and fibre strech out for more. A ride in our" Rib" will take your breath away in more than just one way. Its only when you sit on top of the 6 meter wave, looking out accross the ocean that you discover the vastness of it. Thats when you begin to feel small and insignificant and an easy catch for the brut forces of nature. King crab safari Camtschatica crab, or king crab is a widespread creature in the northern Atlantic and the Barents sea. In january 1977 the first king crab was caught in Norwegian waters, more precisely in Varangerfjorden in the Varanger peninsula. The King crab can reach a diameter of 1.5 meters and about 12 kg weight. Get onboard with us for the ride, the excitement, the search and the preparing of the king crab! Sightseeing and bird watching The nature in hidden fjords like Syltefjord is something quite special and unique. During sunny days, when temperatures rises above 24-25 degrees celsius, its like beeing on a cruise in far more exotic places, places you would think were situated far far south, and not north of the Arctic Circle. Stauran Bird-coloni is one of the most spectacular bird colonies on the Varanger peninsula. Apart from being the summer habitation area of different species of seagulls, cormorants and terns, it is also the home of the Northern Gannet. With cliffs and enormous rocks the Stauran bird colony is quite a sight. The possibility to see this colony are great and a true spectacle to the eyes.. Daytrips to Hamningberg Hamninberg has some of the oldest buildings in the region, with houses built in the early twentieth century. This due to the Germans not having the time, (or perhaps, simply forgot about it) when they burned down most of the settlements in Finnmark during their retreat in 1944. Hamningberg is not connected by road to the rest of the municipality. To get there by car, you would have to drive around the entire Varanger peninsula. Fastest way of getting to Hamningberg (from Batsfjord and Syltefjord ) is by sea. Arctic Tourist is going to arrange daytrips to Hamningberg during the summer months.
